All clear: CNMI survives Bolevan

By Pacific Island Times News Staff Saipan – CNMI Gov. Arnold I. Palacios has declared the “All Clear” condition for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota as of 5 p.m. Oct. 11, while maintaining Tropical Storm Condition 1 for the Northern Islands.

As of Wednesday, the CNMI government has yet to assess any damage that might have been left by Typhoon Bolaven, which passed over Guam and the CNMI on Tuesday.


Packing up to 65-80 mph winds and torrential rains, Bolaven's eyewall managed to miss making any direct hits.


Government offices will reopen on Thursday, Oct. 12, while the CNMI Public School System will resume classes on Friday.


PSS personnel will report to work to assist with storm assessment and other activities.


The Northern Marianas College and the Northern Marianas Technical Institute will resume classes and regular operations on Oct. 12.
