Gilbane Federal will build the reinforced concrete pads and foundations that will support the installation of the tactical mobile over-the-horizon radar equipment in Palau.
The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Pacific awarded a $118.36 million contract to the Concord, CA.-based company.
Work is expected to be completed by June 2026.
The radar will be used primarily to monitor China's movement in the region, where Beijing has been conducting ballistic missile tests and amplifying its threats to take over Taiwan.
Fiscal 2019 military construction (Air Force) funds in the amount of $20 million will be obligated at the time of award and will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
Fiscal 2020 military construction funds in the amount of $98 million will be obligated at the time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
