Guam Del. James Moylan, who won his reelection bid on Tuesday, prepares for his second term in Congress, where he is all set to resume some unfinished business.
"We continue the work we started, and our team is preparing for a whirlwind of activity in Congress next week, including the remaining appropriation bills and the FY 2025 NDAA," he said in a statement issued today.
"With the Senate flipping to a Republican majority, the House tracking to remain 'red' (as of this statement), and President Trump’s potential return to the White House, we are excited about the level of wins for Guam in the coming two weeks," he added.
Moylan secured 52.6 percent of the votes after facing a vigorous challenge from his Democratic opponent Ginger Cruz, who ran a well-oiled campaign.
"I commend my opponent, Ginger Cruz, for bringing her energy and ideas to this election and making it exciting," Moylan said. "She certainly ensured that I brought my 'A' game to the campaign trail daily, and I am very appreciative of that."
Moylan was first elected in 2022, becoming the first Republican to win the congressional seat in 30 years.
"On behalf of my family and our campaign team, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the people of Guam for placing their confidence in allowing us to continue representing them in the nation’s capital as Guam’s
Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives," he said.
"It's been a great honor serving in this capacity for the past 23 months, and we are excited to continue the work for our beautiful island," Moylan added.
