Guam shocked byt murder of a doctor

Guam was shocked by the brutal death of Dr. Miran Ribati, an interventional radiologist at Guam Memorial Hospital, who was murdered Sunday at the Poinciana Apartments in Tamuning.


On Monday, the Guam police arrested fitness trainer Akmal Khozhiev in connection with the killing.

Khozhiev, a Russian native, is facing several charges including aggravated murder, counts of aggravated assault.


“It is with a heavy, shocked and saddened heart that the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority shares the passing of one of its esteemed physicians,” GMH said in a statement.


Ribati has been serving the community for over three years. “His talents were undeniable and impeccable; his passion unparalleled; his accolades from patients in droves. He will be sorely missed among colleagues, staff and the entire Guam healthcare community. GMH will have counselling services for our staff community, as we all process, heal and make sense of this tragic loss.”


Khozhiev and Ribati both attended the same gym, Steel Athletics Guam.
