Guam Memorial Hospital stops accepting TakeCare Insurance due to unpaid claims

By Pacific Island Times News Staff

Guam Memorial Hospital has stopped accepting TakeCare Insurance, effective Nov. 27 due to unpaid claims, the hospital administration said.

Patients holding TakeCare insurance will now be billed as “self-pay” and will need to seek reimbursement directly from their insurer for services provided at GMH.

This decision follows extensive efforts by GMH to address unpaid claims with TakeCare Insurance. Despite regular communications regarding the issue, TakeCare has failed to fulfill its statutory and contractual financial obligations to GMH.

“Our hospital is committed to providing quality healthcare to the people of Guam,” said Lillian Perez- Posadas, hospital administrator. “However, the ongoing delays and non-payment of valid claims by TakeCare places an undue burden on GMHA’s operations and direct risk to patient safety.”
