GMH's new Angiosuite envisioned to  revolutionize patient care in Guam and Micronesia

By Pacific Island Times News Staff

Guam Memorial Hospital on Thursday unveiled its new cutting-edge Angiosuite, a revolutionary step to transforming healthcare for Guam.

GMH said it is the only Angiosuite in the region, positioning the government hospital as a leader in modern healthcare in Guam and Micronesia.

The GE HealthCare Allia™ IGS 7 Angiosuite, a highly advanced medical suite,

is equipped with the latest in AI enhancement software, 3D CT imaging, and a suite of innovative diagnostic tools, which will allow the hospital to provide faster, more precise diagnoses and treatments for critical conditions such as strokes, heart attacks, internal bleeds, and certain cancers.

"With the introduction of the Angiosuite, we can now deliver faster, more effective and efficient enhanced quality care for our patients, saving lives in the process," said Lillian Perez-Posadas, hospital administrator.

"Whether it's diagnosing a stroke in minutes, treating heart attacks with pinpoint precision, or offering cutting-edge interventions for cancers and internal bleeds, this is truly a game-changer for healthcare in Guam," she added.

The launch of the Allia™ IGS 7 Angiosuite marks a significant investment in the health and well-being of the community.

With its advanced imaging capabilities, including AI-assisted analysis and real- time 3D mapping, the Angiosuite empowers GMHA doctors to visualize patient conditions with unmatched clarity. This technology dramatically reduces the time needed to diagnose life-threatening conditions and initiate treatment, offering patients the best chance for positive outcomes.

The centerpiece of the new cath lab room is the Allia™ IGS 7 image-guided

therapy system developed by GE HealthCare. With its laser-guided mobile robotic gantry, the Allia™ imaging system enables patients to be precisely positioned for the minimally invasive techniques that put GMH at the forefront of advancing heart health.

The system is ergonomic and easy to use since it can be personalized for the physician’s clinical needs, even in the most complex working positions.

Cardiovascular care is evolving due to the growth of new and more complex cardiac procedures and devices. The Allia™ IGS 7 will help us optimize our clinical workflow by delivering high-quality imaging with minimal dose so that our patient can continue to receive world-class care.

“Our team is so excited about the new Angiosuite, it’s all about giving our

people faster, better care when they need it most.  This isn’t just new tech,

it’s a big step forward in how we can help save lives and improve the health of our community,” said Daniel Bernardo, Interventional Radiology supervisor.

In the case of strokes and heart attacks, where every second counts, the Angiosuite’s real-time imaging and AI-enhanced tools will allow our medical teams to respond faster than ever before.

Moreover, the suite's versatility extends to specialized treatments for conditions

such as liver cancer, making it a critical asset in our ongoing mission to offer comprehensive and compassionate care to all patients.

“With our new machine, my wish had come true - to provide the people the best quality care in an innovative way,” said Belle Rada, assistant administrator of Professional Support Services.

GMH said it is committed to advancing healthcare standards on the island, and the unveiling of its new Angiosuite symbolizes its efforts to bring world-class medical care to Guam and to stay at the forefront of medical technology. (GMH)
