International Women’s Day Wave

Pitbull Empire Guam is organizing its 7th Annual International Women’s

Day Wave on March 8 at the ITC Intersection/Tamuning Peace Park from 4 p.m to 6 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Accelerate Action." During International Women’s Day 2025, women all over the world will be accelerating action. Locally the focus is on gender based violence and discrimination.

“I see daily reminders of violence against women through social media. Violence ranging from domestic abuse to sexual abuse has been a common theme in the news for quite some time. As a mother of two daughters, this concerns me. I can do my best to teach them what healthy relationships can look like but the problem needs a community approach to accelerate action,” said Kelly Cook, event coordinator

“I started this local wave seven years ago hoping to inspire others to be cognizant of the small battles women face every day, mainly domestic abuse. As a former victim, my hope was to show others that survivors can thrive after all the trauma. Through awareness waves such as this our group hopes to accelerate action for a community wide change,” Jenei Aguon, creative director at Pitbull Empire.
