Fargo Pacific Inc., a Guam company, has been awarded a $21.4 million contract to repair the passenger terminal at Andersen Air Force Base, which was heavily damaged by Typhoon Mawar last year.

"This contract provides for the demolition and renovation of the interior of the passenger terminal, which occupies approximately 21,400 square feet of the existing Building 17002," the Department of Defense said in an announcement today.

The project, awarded by the 36th Contracting Squadron at AAFB, is expected to be completed by July 26, 2026.

The contract also requires Fargo Pacific to provide a new temporary passenger terminal facility pending the project's completion.

According to AAFB, the passenger terminal was hit hard when the destructive Typhoon Mawar made landfall on Guam on May 24, 2023. The 734th Air Mobility Squadron improvised by using a hangar as a makeshift passenger terminal to support the Patriot Express mission.

The northern part of Guam, where AAFB is located, was worst hit by Mawar, the strongest typhoon to pound Gaum in 20 years.

Air Force officials said the supertyphoon caused $10 billion worth of damage inside the installation.
