Joe Mesa former GEC executive director dies

By Pacific island Times News Staff

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lieutenant Governor Joshua Tenorio have issued the following statements on the passing of Joe Mesa:

Joe Mesa

“Joe Mesa was a close friend and a good man. Though we loved different parties, I was proud to know him for more than 20 years. As a senior Republican leader, a member and former executive director of the Guam Election Commission, and a dedicated public servant who helped GMH gain accreditation, he always chose integrity over partisanship and humility over pride. Joe was quiet but his effectiveness spoke for itself. He gave his full heart to everything he did and found success in both the public and private sector. We join his family and friends in mourning his loss, and we find some comfort because we remember the special impact of his life,” said Leon Guerrero.

“I served with Joe on the Guam Election Commission. And though we didn’t share the same party, he was always my friend. Joe never let politics get in the way of doing the right thing. He knew that while elections come and go, we all share the same island and love the same home. Those of us who knew Joe are better because we did. To his family and those who loved him, we mourn with you — and we will never forget him,” said Tenorio said.
