After its initial plan to introduce Boeing 777 aircraft on flights from Tokyo to Guam was revealed, Japan Airlines (JAL) is moving up the scheduled aircraft upgauge.
First scheduled for Sept. 1, the new date for the introduction of the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft on the daily Guam-Tokyo (Narita) flights is now Aug. 1. With the upgauge, the airline will replace the Boeing 767 aircraft on the flights providing 312 seats per flight. JAL’s 767s have a configuration of 200-240 seats.
The new aircraft with a larger seat capacity comes after JAL reduced its frequencies between Guam and Tokyo to from two to one daily flight per day. With the service reduction, the larger aircraft on the lone flight will have Guam see an overall reduction of seats offered by JAL on the route. (Flights in Asia)
