Guam Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo has announced that the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority $20,015.00 in federal grant assistance.
The grant was awarded to GHURA for the Congregate Housing Service Program. The program provides an annual extension for the employment of Service Coordinators to assist multi-family housing developments designed for the elderly and persons with disabilities. The funding also covers the supportive service needed by frail and elderly residents and those with disabilities in federally subsidized housing.
“I applaud GHURA for pursuing these federal funds with the intent to continue to provide services and housing for some of the most vulnerable in our community,” said Cong. Bordallo. “These funds will benefit our island as we are able to continue to service these individuals who fall under the Congregate Housing Service Program. Our man'amko’ and those with disabilities will be provided with the shelter they need and will be given the peace of mind of having the assistance they need.”
