Leon Guerrero says she's 'doing well' after being taken to GMH

By Pacific Island Times News Staff

Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital following a gubernatorial debate hosted by the Guam Chamber of Commerce at Hilton Resort and Spa.

"I just want the people of Guam to be assured that I am doing well. As it was, I had some bouts of coughing the last few days," the governor said in a video message from GMH.

After the debate, she called her pulmonologist, Dr. Joleen Aguon.

"She insisted that I come to the ER to be evaluated. As it turned out, I have viral pneumonia--not contagious! And I am Covid negative," the governor said. "Yay for vaccines! Out of an abundance of caution, I am going to stay overnight for observation."

The Guam Chamber of Commerce and the Archdioce of Agana

released separate statements, wishing Leon Guerrero a speedy recovery.

This was the second time the governor was rushed to the hospital after a debate. The first time was when she had a debate with Congressman Michael San Nicolas during forum hosted by Kandit News in July.
