United Airlines announced today that it will operate a total of 20 additional flights between two Japanese cities, Tokyo/Narita and Nagoya, and Guam between Aug. 2 and 27 to meet high Japanese travel demand during the summer holidays. Of these additional flights, 13 will operate out of Tokyo/Narita and 7 out of Nagoya.
“As Guam’s hometown airline for the past 50 years, our team continuously monitors the market for opportunities to add flights between Guam and Japan,” said Sam Shinohara, United’s managing director of operations - Asia/Pacific. “We are pleased to see that the demand for summer travel is increasing to Guam, which is great news for our local economy. The entire United team remains committed to working closely with Guam Visitors Bureau and stakeholders to support Guam’s tourism industry and provide the connections that our residents count on.”
Additional flights will operate using 120-seat B737-700s featuring 12 business class seats, 30 Economy Plus seats and 78 economy class seats, as well as 166-seat B737‐800s with 16 business class seats, 42 Economy Plus seats and 108 economy class seats.
United is the only U.S. airline that operates flights between Guam and Japan. It currently operates more than 40 regular non-stop weekly flights between Guam and four Japanese cities (Tokyo/Narita, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka). These additionally scheduled flights will enable more Japanese customers to visit Guam, the closest and the most well-known overseas beach resort in Japan, with more convenient flight choices during summer holidays.
